Irvin Construction offers a superior ceramic paint coating that stands up to wind, rain, snow, ice, and other intense weather. PAINT PREPARATION
Prepping Walls for Painting. Before prepping a room for painting, we'll protect the furniture and flooring against splattering paint or accidents. Scrape any cracked or flaking paint with a paint scraper. For other small imperfections on the wall such as plaster bumps, smooth them away with sandpaper.
PAINT REMOVAL & CLEANING
Paint stripper, or paint remover, is a chemical product designed to remove paint, finishes, and coatings while also cleaning the underlying surface. The product's material safety data sheet provides more safety information than its product labels. Paint can also be removed using mechanical methods or heat.
SPECIAL FINISHES
Sponging: Takes is a natural sea sponge, glaze and two or three colors of paint to add dimension, color and texture to any room, whether it’s the kitchen, bathroom, or bedroom.
Color Washing: Color washing, or "broken finish" technique, can bring authentic old world charm to any room, making it feel as if it's weathered by time. We apply a thin, translucent glaze over a contrasting base color and use feathery brush strokes to produce a mellow, soft texture.
Rag Rolling: Achieve the rich look of old leather or weathered stucco with rag rolling. We use a twisted or bunched up rag to roll paint on or pull it off irregularly, to create a mottled effect.
Marbleizing: The rich color variations, veining and intricate patterns of natural marble are the inspiration for this technique. Marbleizing is a process of layering tinted glazes over a base coat to produce the appearance of real marble. It can enhance fireplace surrounds, tabletops, picture frames and, of course, walls.
Faux Granite: Granite is a popular stone today because of its sophisticated style. There is virtually no limit to the colors and pattern variations of granite, so you can really express yourself with the faux granite painting technique. The process combines sponging and speckling a glaze mixture onto the surface to replicate the patterns of granite.
Crackling: Want an aged, weathered look on a surface such as a door, chair or table? Crackle faux painting techniques can provide real attention-getting style and create a focal point in a room. This method uses two colors of paint, a crackle medium, and varnish to create the desired effect.
Stripes: Stripes are a classic design element that can add interest to any room. Adding stripes to your walls with paint is a technique that gives you the freedom to create original, personalized vertical or horizontal patterns that reflect your taste and lets you customize the colors to match your décor.
EPOXY FLOOR COATING
Epoxy is an adhesive, paint, plastic, or other material that is created as a polymer of epoxides. There are many benefits that come with using an epoxy floor coating, compared to using other types of resins for flooring. Most importantly, epoxy is known to be the highest strength resin in the industry.
HIGH DURABILITY COATING
High durability coatings revive the appearance of heavily-trafficked areas while protecting your investment. The professional exterior painters at BR Irvin Construction are skilled in applying high durability coatings for floors, walls, and high-wear areas requiring long-term solutions.
WOOD ROT REPAIR
Dry rot treatment refers to techniques used to eliminate dry rot fungus and alleviate the damage done by the fungus to human-built wooden structures. Dry rot (Serpula lacrymans) is considered difficult to remove, requiring drastic action. Our knowledgeable contractors can repair your rotted wood to a pristine finish.
WATERPROOF COATING/ SEALING
Waterproof coatings cover the masonry of your building with a waterproof substance, stopping water from getting inside and wrecking havoc. There are also water-repellent coatings, Old House Journal explained, that are hydrophobic toward droplets of water but let vapor inside.
